This Wednesday, the SDP chairman classified the findings of the TAR investigation report as “democratic disgrace and of no value,” calling them “strictly socialist” and not reflective of what happened in the commission.
Speaking to reporters at the end of a visit to the National Institute for Media Emergencies (INEM), Luis Montenegro said that the report presented this Wednesday by the PS Rapporteur and Deputy is “fictitious, biased” and “an attempt to whitewash” government responsibilities.
“There is a great discrepancy between what happened in the parliamentary committee of inquiry and the report: it is necessary to tell the Portuguese that what mattered was what was said, what was not said, what was contradictory, the lies revealed in the committee”, pointed.
On the contrary, he accused, the report’s conclusions are “strictly socialist, factional and of no value.”
Contrary to what the prime minister said, the PSD president assured that he had already read the report and left criticism of António Costa.
“The prime minister has such a strategy: until now he has not spoken, because the commission has been working, now because these are not final conclusions, when they are, he will say that there is no need to speak, because everything is fine,” Montenegro said. .
For the SDP leader, the report, presented on Tuesday evening and presented this Wednesday, “wants to whitewash all the activities and members of the socialist government” and contains “absolutely unacceptable omissions.”
“The biggest concern that the findings show is the desire to make a historic commentary on the privatization process in 2015,” he criticized.
Montenegro has said it does not want to interfere in the work of MPs – the SDP in parliament has already said it will vote against and present its findings in writing – but acknowledged that there will be little scope for correcting the document.
“Faced with this position of the PS, we already understand that from a practical point of view there is no escape from it,” he lamented.
Montenegro also criticized the PS parliamentary group for “completely following in the face of the relaxed attitude that the prime minister faces with a situation of lack of truth and wrong procedures.”
“Everything is contagious, there is an infection of the PS from how calmly the prime minister deals with serious and serious matters in the country,” he said.
Parties may submit proposals to amend this draft report by July 10, and the report will be discussed and voted on by the committee on July 13 and considered at the plenary meeting on July 19.
This commission of inquiry, which began work in February, was proposed by Block de Esquerda following a controversial half-million-euro compensation paid to Alexandra Reis, who later worked for NAV and was Secretary of State for the Treasury. exit from TAP.
The Preliminary Report states that “there are no significant situations indicative of the practice of interference of the guardianship authorities in the day-to-day management of the company” and that “the majority of evidence indicates the absence of interference or political interference from the guardianship and guardianship authorities.” guardianship in the current management of the company.
Omitting the incidents that took place on the premises of the Ministry of Infrastructure with Frederico Pinheiro and the government’s use of information services, the deputy rapporteur argues that these are issues “that were referred to the TAP commission of inquiry” but that “do not really constitute its subject matter.”
