Searches in the house of the president of PSG on suspicion of detention, kidnapping and torture in Qatar

The home of PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi was raided on Wednesday as part of an investigation into allegations of detention, kidnapping and torture in Qatar of a French-Algerian lobbyist, a source close to AFP said.

“The investigating magistrate has requested additional information and access, which has been provided fully and transparently, in full cooperation with the authorities, as it has been since the beginning,” a spokesman for the PSG president, quoted by the news, responded. French news agency.

The search was carried out by the Judicial Police as part of a judicial investigation launched in late January following a complaint by lobbyist Tayeb Benabderrahman, a procedure that almost always allows for a judicial investigation.

Benabderrahman said he was kidnapped for six months and interrogated by local authorities, in particular about documents he had potentially compromising PSG Qatari boss Nasser Al-Khelaifi.

He explained that he was placed under house arrest and finally allowed to leave Qatar in November 2020, after signing a confidentiality protocol in which he pledged not to disclose these documents.

Last week, the Paris City Hall, led by former Republican minister Rashida Dati, and law firms were also targeted in this case.

Lawyers for Nasser Al-Khelaifi announced in April their intention to file a defamation suit against the lobbyist.
