Chega leader Andre Ventura said this Saturday that António Costa should stop and think about which ministers and secretaries of state could jeopardize “the authority and prestige of the government.” Speaking to reporters in Torres Vedras, Ventura also said he did not believe the government was in a position to continue, saying the prime minister should have “the guts to fire three or four ministers or secretaries of state.”
Regarding the possibility of pre-elections, André Ventura says that the Portuguese do not want elections, but says that it is only “up to António Costa that it depends whether we have elections or not.”
As for Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, Andre Ventura said that the President of the Republic “has shown great goodwill” as “every week or every month” there is “another case of corruption, another case of infringement, another case of incompatibility, one more dismissal.” Chegi’s leader declared that “such a government cannot be sustained.”
Andre Ventura also mentioned that António Costa “has to think about what needs to be updated”. “I think that, unfortunately, Fernando Medina needs to be replaced,” the Chega leader added.
