Nine of the 16 Court of Accounts (TdC) judges who have retired from 2015 to the present have received compensation for unused leave in previous years. Compensations exceed in some cases 30 thousand euros, advances this Sunday Public. As with all courts, the TdC has a two-month statutory leave. During this period, judges go to court only in shifts and consider urgent cases.
The prosecutor’s office even opened a criminal case in the Supreme Court, which was closed last year for lack of corpus delicti. However, the archiving order states that there may be “inconsistencies”.
Although these judges retired in September 2015, it was not until March 2017 that the court began making its first payments. But there were judges who did not accept compensation for unused vacation, such as the then president of the TdC, Guilherme de Oliveira Martins, who refused more than 43 thousand euros.
According to the documents I have seen PublicAt least until 2015, there were judges who did not take the minimum 10 days of leave required by law. There are also cases where judges do not report vacations and vacation plans that have not been approved by the president of the court.
