Young people between the ages of 12 and 29 will have free admission to the museums, monuments and palaces of the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage (DGPC) on Saturday as part of the International Youth Day announced by the organization this Saturday.
According to this body of the Ministry of Culture, on the occasion of International Youth Day, established by the United Nations (UN) in 1999, young people in this age group will have free admission, “framed in the celebration of the day, which in Portugal is organized by the Portuguese Institute of Sports and Youth”.
“Therefore, International Youth Day, which in 2023 aims to highlight the importance of Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World, also provides young people with the opportunity to visit museums, palaces and monuments dependent on the DGPC, enriching the celebrations in question,” justifies the CEO in his statement.
International Youth Day is celebrated annually on 12 August to recognize the fundamental role of youth in society, and various events are linked to the celebration by drawing attention to youth issues.
Every year on this day, local authorities, associations and youth-related organizations organize concerts, workshops, cultural events and meetings on a proposed theme, which this year is about the relevance of environmental skills, especially for young people.
