The president of the republic said this Sunday that he would “very much like” to go to Ukraine to meet with Zelensky, taking advantage of the geographical proximity, but urged patience, because it is not yet possible to know if there are conditions for a trip.
“I would like to [de ir] in the sense that there is an invitation made a long time ago by President Zelensky. Obviously, I would really like to have this opportunity, because relations with the President of Ukraine since his election have been very good,” Marcelo Rebelo de Souza said upon arrival in Warsaw for a two-day official visit.
The head of state recalled that when Prime Minister António Costa traveled to Kyiv in May 2022 to meet with Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of the republic used “a very vague and generalized expression.”
