President of the Republic Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa said on Monday that “”[o acordo] in the Assembly of the Republic was fundamental to the More Housing program.
This morning was marked by the veto of the housing diploma. The Head of State clarified to journalists that the problem is not “unconstitutionality”, but the lack of political consensus.
Marcelo stressed “shortcomings in the application conditions and the lack of a regime agreement” and stated that “significant support in Parliament” was needed.
The head of state explained that in the presented set of measures there are points that he approves of, which are “diluted” in their totality. “It won’t work for what is needed,” he pointed out.
A package of legislative amendments in the housing sector was approved by an absolute majority of the PS in Parliament.
