Judicial Police (PJ) have detained a 30-year-old man on “compelling evidence” of a crime of underage pornography in Ponta Delgada, on the island of San Miguel, it was announced this Monday.
The investigation by the Criminal Investigation Department in the Azores was based on “information obtained through the mechanism of international cooperation, according to which the detainee distributed pornographic files involving children via the Internet.”
The SP, following a house search conducted in the municipality of Ponta Delgada on the island of Sao Miguel, found computer equipment “containing thousands of videos of children, mostly under the age of 10, engaging in pornographic activities.”
The detainee was presented to the judicial authorities, coercive measures were applied to him, a ban on access to the Internet, in addition to the obligation to periodically report to the criminal police at the place of residence.
