A PSP police officer was seriously injured after a 21-year-old young man “violently attacked the shoulder blade area” with a “broken glass bottle” early this Saturday morning in the Misericordia parish in Lisbon.
The aggressor, suspected of serious crimes against the agent’s physical integrity, was arrested at 4:45 am.
The agents were mobilized to confront the two citizens who had already attacked each other. One of the attackers held a broken glass bottle in his hands and tried to hit another person with this object.
The policemen were caught between two rivals, as a result of which the officer received a blow that caused a deep cut several centimeters long.
Despite this, the wounded policeman managed to neutralize the attacker by taking the bottle from his hands. The suspect was promptly arrested.
Ambulances were called to the scene to help the police officer, who was taken to the San José hospital where he received at least ten stitches and was unable to work.
for what cm As it turned out, the PSP agent has already been discharged and is being treated at home. The victim will be suspended indefinitely.
The detainee, without a criminal record, was taken to the Lisbon Court for a hearing at the first judicial examination and the application of appropriate coercive measures.
“The suspect acted willfully and deliberately to brutally attack a police officer in the performance of his mission, expressing even greater censure for not having restrained himself from doing so, directing his violent actions against them, when his actions were aimed only at maintaining order and such The conduct is clearly serious and minor because it violates the fundamental legitimate interests of the rule of law, not only because of the violent assault on physical integrity, but, above all, because it is directed against a member of the Public Security Police,” the PSP said in a statement.
