Russian President Vladimir Putin does not intend to attend the funeral of Yevgeny Prigozhin, who died in a plane crash last week, the Kremlin said on Tuesday.
“The president’s presence is not planned,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
According to Reuters, Dmitry Peskov said the Kremlin did not have specific information about funeral plans and that family members were responsible for the preparations.
Last Wednesday, a Moscow-St. Petersburg flight with Yevgeny Prigozhin on its passenger list crashed on the outskirts of the Russian capital, with the country’s aviation department guaranteeing the death of the mercenary.
The bodies of ten passengers of a private jet carrying Wagner group leader Yevgeny Prigozhin were found, as well as airplane black boxes.
