Communist Party General Secretary Paulo Raimundo said this Sunday that the government’s policy of “certain accounts” is “disrupting the lives” of the Portuguese and “aggravating the problems of the country.” At the end of the 47th Festa do Avante, the communist leader also asked for the PKP to be strengthened in the next elections, saying that the party is reliable and does not act “at the whim of the wind”.
In his debut speech at the Festa do Avante as general secretary of the PKP – he succeeded Jeronimo de Sousa in November 2022 – Raimundo stated that “the effects of policies that essentially serve the interests and goals of the groups are clear. “. In his opinion, “the actions of the PS government, its absolute majority and the intervention of the SDP, SDS, Chegi and IL” converge to this option.
Of his party, he stated that it was “trustworthy and does not fly with the wind, does not succumb to fear, blackmail, threats, lies.”
For the reasons he explained, the communist leader asked for the PKP vote to be strengthened. “We want more parties, not to fill the chest, we want more parties, because this is a requirement to improve the living conditions of workers and people and move the country forward,” he stressed.
Regarding the first pre-election test as communist leader, Madeira’s regional parliaments, on the 24th of this month, Raimundo asked for “more forces”, which means “more votes and more mandates from the CDU”, the PCP-led coalition.
