Montenegro said that Costa was “annoyed” at a meeting of the State Council

PSD President Luis Montenegro criticized today the possible position of António Costa at the meeting of the State Council, saying that the Prime Minister presented himself as “grumpy” and did not give explanations to the members of the State Council.

“There was a State Council, and, it seems, there was an inflated prime minister. What is your responsibility,” he criticized.

“I don’t know if the prime minister intends to be a victim because of this conflict that he is creating with the president of the republic to see if he gets any political, party or electoral benefit next year, I don’t know, I suspect that there should be something like that,” he added.

The SDP leader spoke during a dinner with militants and party supporters in Arronches, Portalegre district, during an action included in the Sentir Portugal program promoted by the SDP.

Luis Montenegro, who warned those present about the “impoverishment of the country”, also lamented that the Portuguese are experiencing a phase of “institutional degradation, because there is no memory.”

“We have already had a series of resignations in the government, unparalleled in our democratic history, and now, apparently, we have the will of the prime minister, who wants to come into conflict with the president of the republic,” he lamented.

The leader of the Social Democrats also expressed regret that the prime minister was “angry, upset” because the president of the republic used his powers to veto a legislative package in the field of housing.

“And he did very well [veto]”because he did what the Portuguese people demanded of him, namely, he did not pass a law that everyone has already seen and which will not lead to the expected result,” he said.

“If the prime minister does not have a ‘democratic fair game’ to live with the balance of power in Portugal, if the prime minister is sullen, if the prime minister wants to add to the socio-economic crisis that we already have, also an institutional crisis” He goes the wrong way and refuses to come and play the victim, because here the responsibility lies only with him,” he added.

Luis Montenegro asked the Portuguese to “start looking” at the PSD and how they see the leadership of a government characterized by “responsibility”, “institutional sense and democratic fair play”, respecting other parties, political agents and other sovereign bodies.

In his speech, the PSD leader also recalled that the country is “poorer and more unequal”, once again demanding that the government cut taxes and criticizing António Costa on agricultural policy, as well as saying that the Minister of Agriculture “has no authority”. .

“The country as a whole is a country that is poorer, the country as a whole is a country where the National Health Service (SNS) is getting worse and worse, what’s the point of the PS stuffing your mouth, saying that it was a father and mother social networks, which is not even true, but we will leave them with these conversations anyway,” he said.

“They (PS), and in particular Dr. António Costa, have a doctorate, but we needed him to have a doctorate in good deeds, in transformation, in reforming, in improving people’s lives,” he added.

Portalegre is the 13th arrondissement, chosen by the President of the SDP in accordance with the commitment he made in the 40th Congress to spend one week a month in the various arrondissements of Portugal. Luis Montenegro has been touring the 15 municipalities that make up the Alto Alentejo region since Sunday and ends this tour on Wednesday in Portalegre.
