According to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), fourteen areas of the mainland are under a yellow warning this Friday due to a forecast of rain, sometimes heavy, accompanied by thunder and hail.
The areas of Bragança, Viseu, Guarda, Vila Real, Setúbal, Santarém, Leiria, Lisbon, Castelo Branco, Aveiro and Coimbra will be under yellow warning from 12:00 to 21:00 this Friday.
The Yellow Warning for Viana do Castelo, Braga and Porto will be in effect from 12:00 this Friday until 24:00 Saturday.
A yellow warning, the least severe on a scale of three, is issued by the IPMA whenever a risk situation arises for certain activities depending on the weather situation.
IPMA predicts very cloudy skies for the continent this Friday and showers since the late morning, which can be heavy, sometimes with hail and accompanied by thunderstorms, especially in the northern and central regions.
Light to moderate winds are also expected from the south quadrant, sometimes strong in the highlands, especially along the coast of the northern and central regions, as well as fog or morning fog, most often on the coast.
The minimum temperature will range from 14 degrees Celsius (in Braganza) to 19 (in Santarem and Aveiro), and the maximum – from 23 (in Guarda) to 30 (in Santarém).
