The National Electoral Commission (CNE) has warned the President of the Madeira Government not to question the duties of neutrality and impartiality towards the remaining candidates in the regional elections following a complaint by BE.
The decision took into account the complaint filed by BE with the Commission on September 10 against the president of the regional government and the re-nomination of the PSD candidacy for the regional legislative assemblies, which will take place this month, given that Miguel Albuquerque violated the “duties of neutrality and impartiality during the electoral campaign” during visiting the river canals in Funchal.
In a decision published this Monday, the CNE “decides to warn the President of the Regional Government of Madeira to refrain, in the future and until the end of the electoral process, from making statements, taking positions or taking actions that directly or indirectly favor or harm one candidate to the detriment or advantage of others , or which in any way jeopardizes the observance of the duties of neutrality and impartiality” to which he is obliged under the Electoral Law of the Legislative Assembly of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (LILRAM).
