The National Counter-Terrorism Unit (UNCT) of the Judicial Police announced this Wednesday the arrest of five men between 20 and 40 years old for the kidnapping of a woman.
The investigation began in April this year with the arrest of a man and two women for the same crime.
The kidnap victim was left by his kidnappers in his home, believed to be temporary, and with the help of family members, he immediately sought help from the PNP.
The UNCT was soon alerted as it was uniquely qualified to investigate the abductions, and captured three suspects. The couple were in jail, and the woman was detained.
The investigation continued and yesterday, with the support of the PNP, the UNCT carried out 19 search warrants, 17 of which were carried out on houses, in execution of a further five arrest warrants issued by the Loures Court as part of this investigation.
Four firearms were confiscated and a sixth man caught in possession of one of the illegal weapons was arrested.
