A 93-year-old woman died this Friday afternoon after she was accidentally hit by her husband in Aldea do Mato, municipality of Abrantes.
The accident occurred shortly after 2pm on a dirt road parallel to the EN358. The victim’s husband did not notice her presence when he was driving in reverse and ran over her.
The accident left the woman seriously injured and emergency services rushed to the scene, including an INEM helicopter. However, the victim could not bear the scale of his injuries and died, and the plane was demobilized.
Although signs indicate that an accident occurred, GNR is investigating the situation to determine in detail the reasons that led to the tragedy.
