Abdoulaye Camara, 36, a man of Portuguese-Guinean origin, is serving a 13-year prison sentence in Pinheiro da Cruz prison, Grandola, for the crimes of rape, kidnapping and domestic violence and was nicknamed “terrorist” during his time in prison. da Carregueira, due to threats and attacks on security guards, published a video on social networks in which he claims to have been the target of death threats.
In a recording recorded on September 19 on a mobile phone (a prohibited item in prison settings), Cámara says he “went on a hunger strike from September 13 to 17” in the security department of Pinheiro da Cruz prison.
“I did this after I was attacked by other prisoners at the instigation of the guards, resulting in them breaking a finger (proof shown in the image) and several teeth,” the prisoner explained.
Abdulai Kamara says he is sure that they want to assassinate him. “They’re just trying to see if I’ll respond with violence so they can justify their actions, but they can’t do that,” he explained.
So the Portuguese-Guinean prisoner is asking for help abroad to “stop this nonsense.” “I don’t want to die now because I have a wife and daughter abroad and I want to have more children,” he said.
Frederico Morais, leader of the National Union of Prison Guards, told the CM that the body “regrets that investments have not yet been made in the purchase of signal inhibitors that prevent the use of mobile phones in prisons.”
An official source in the Prison Service, in turn, told our newspaper that he was “aware of the facts” contained in the video published by Abdoulaye Kamara. “A complaint regarding slanderous accusations against the prisoner will be filed with the prosecutor’s office. In addition, it is reported that appropriate disciplinary measures have been taken against the prisoner for committing violations provided for by law,” he concluded.
