Fatal victim of PSP shooting in Porto was from Gaia and was wearing an electronic bracelet

He did wear an electronic bracelet, but for domestic violence against his ex-partner, but even this did not stop him from continuing his criminal activities.

On Tuesday he was shot dead by PSP officers during a shootout in Campanha, Porto, after he was intercepted in a stolen car.

The police arrived at 8 pm. Fernando was in a vehicle accompanied by three accomplices – a man and two women – when he was discovered by PSP officers.

The car was reportedly used in violent robberies at gas stations in the Grand Port and, like the gang, had already been mentioned by the authorities.

Undercover officers attempted to approach the vehicle and suspects, but the group attempted to escape by ramming a police car.

According to PSP, agents “fired multiple shots into the vehicle, striking two occupants.” Fernando Maia was shot in the chest and died on the spot.

Another man, also previously convicted, was wounded in the arm. Both women have already been detained.

The PSP immediately decided to launch an investigation. On Wednesday, Interior Minister José Luis Carneiro ordered the same procedure to “investigate the circumstances in which elements of the PSP operated.”

THEY HURRICATED THE VAN
On Tuesday, the gang had already stolen a van in Sant Mamede de Infesta, Matosinhos, using the same car in which they were intercepted. They are also suspected of attempting to ram members of the Arkozelo PNP.

JUDICIAL INVESTIGATION SYSTEM
Inspectors from the Porto Judicial Police inspected the scene of the incident and are now ascertaining the exact circumstances of the case. Testimony from PSP agents and gang members may help in the investigation.
