This Friday, Parliament generally approved the IL bill to remove the mandatory use of the blue badge for electric vehicles, while maintaining its display for those who want to use parking spaces for these vehicles.
This Liberal bill, which “simplify, eliminates the requirement of a blue badge for the operation of electric vehicles on public roads”, was approved thanks to the PS and PKP abstaining, with the rest of the parties voting in favor (PAN was not present due to being at a European political event).
In the explanatory note, IL states that, according to the Institute of Mobility and Transport (IMT), “the absence of an identification badge on an electric vehicle does not entail a penalty for the driver, as it is only necessary for “access to benefits associated with the use of an electric vehicle, e.g. charging stations and parking spaces reserved for electric vehicles.”
However, according to the Liberals, the current law goes beyond these purposes and requires the sign to be posted solely for the purpose of traveling on public roads or the like.
“It does not seem appropriate or reasonable for the state, in accordance with current legislation, to oblige people to wear an identification badge under pain of a fine,” the liberals justify themselves.
According to IL, “the law urgently needs to be changed to limit the badge requirement to parking situations reserved for electric vehicles.”
The proposed change, which now applies to the specialty, aims to change the legal regime of electromobility in the article relating to electric vehicles.
“To use the parking spaces reserved for electric vehicles, electric vehicles must have an identification badge, which is specified in Annexure I to this decree-law and which is an integral part thereof,” the proposal states.
