Several green spaces in the city of Viseu will be temporarily closed due to bad weather as there is a risk of falling branches, the chamber said on Tuesday.
In a safety alert issued early this morning, the municipality said it had decided to temporarily close Mata do Fontelo, Aquilino Ribeiro Park, Mata do Cerrado and Mata da Quinta do Bosque, given forecasts of strong wind gusts.
The municipality asked residents “not to drive through or remain in areas with large concentrations of trees.”
The National Emergency Management and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC) recorded 394 incidents related to bad weather between 20:00 and 7:00 today, the majority of which occurred in Greater Lisbon and the Setúbal Peninsula, which did not result in casualties.
Speaking to Lusa, Paulo Santos of ANEPC said that during this period, 394 incidents were recorded throughout the country, of which 142 in the municipality of Lisbon and 42 in the Setubal peninsula, which were mainly related to falling trees, falling structures. , road clearing and flooding.
Eight areas of mainland Portugal are under an orange warning today due to wind and heavy rain, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).
