The Prime Minister told Livre’s deputy, Rui Tavares, this Monday that the government is ready to discuss some of the changes it has proposed to the state budget for 2024, stressing that this has happened in previous budget exercises.
This position of António Costa was conveyed to Rui Tavares in the answer he gave in the second round of questions from 21 MPs in the first of two days of parliamentary debate on most of the 2024 budget proposal.
In his speech, Rui Tavares considered relevant the progress made in terms of social justice through the creation of a pass for intercity and regional trains, a proposal that came from his political strength. Then Deputy Livre said that this measure should now be extended to interregional and intercity trains.
António Costa’s answer was general and, above all, political.
“We are clearly well placed and interested in continuing the debate with you that has been constructive throughout this Budget, particularly around public transport policy and the opportunity to see to what extent the conditions for the use of passes can be extended. in all areas of public transport,” he said.
Livre de Ruy Tavares, who joined the parliament of this legislative body, abstained from the final global vote on the budgets for 2022 and 2023.
