According to the ministry’s indictment, the president of the municipal council of Gaia, Eduardo Vitor Rodriguez, in September 2017 instructed the management of the municipal company Águas de Gaia to purchase an electric car worth about 19 thousand euros.
However, for eight months, Elisa Maria Rodriguez, the mayor’s wife, used the car for her own purposes. The defendant, in charge of the social solidarity institution Sol Mayor, will not have a professional relationship with the municipal company. Águas de Gaia, at least for the first eight months, did not include the electric vehicle in its asset map and did not report the acquisition to the municipal company’s fleet manager.
The case arose from an anonymous complaint. The Renault Zoe electric car, according to testimony and surveillance operations, was driven by Elisa Maria Rodriguez as if it were her property and was parked next to the family home and place of work, the social solidarity institution Sol Greater. in Gaya.
The prosecutor’s office also demands to recover in favor of the state an amount of about 5 thousand euros, corresponding to the cost of eight contributions paid to the rental company for the use of the vehicle.
