Speaking to Lusa, the commander of the Ponte de Lima volunteer fire brigade, Carlos Lima, explained that the car, which was “severely damaged,” was driving along Calle Conego Manuel José Barbosa Correia, in front of the school, when the tree fell.
“Two passengers, a man and his son, who were walking to school, were not injured.”
The falling tree damaged, less seriously, four other cars parked in front of the school.
Calle Conego Manuel José Barbosa Correia in Ponte de Lima, Viana do Castelo district, is closed to traffic so firefighters can remove the tree.
