The Prime Minister addresses the country this Monday at 14:00, after the searches in São Bento and the Ministry of Justice announced that it is the subject of an independent Supreme Court investigation into the lithium and hydrogen projects.
This message to the country of António Costa from São Bento was conveyed by the office of the Prime Minister.
According to the Attorney General’s Office, the prime minister is the subject of an independent investigation carried out by the prosecutor’s office as part of an investigation launched in the Supreme Court.
“Moreover, during the investigation, it was revealed that the suspects invoked the name and authority of the Prime Minister and his intervention to unblock procedures in the above-mentioned context. Such references will be analyzed independently as part of the investigation launched by the Supreme Court as it is the competent authority,” the PGR said in a note issued today.
This information comes after the operation to produce lithium and green hydrogen.
Before the Office of the Executive Leader published this note, the Prime Minister left the Belém Palace in Lisbon after a meeting with the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, which lasted about ten minutes.
The Prime Minister was filmed on television entering the Belem Palace a few minutes before 13:00 through the Calzada da Ajuda entrance and leaving around 13:10 through the same door.
In the morning, the head of state received António Costa at his request after searches of government offices, including the official residence of São Bento, during which the Prime Minister’s chief of staff, Vitor Escaria, was detained for questioning.
