Lawyer Joao Tiago Silveira named as defendant in lithium and hydrogen deal case

João Thiago Silveira is the second partner of the law firm Morais Leitão named as a defendant in the lithium and green hydrogen investigation that led to the resignation of the prime minister, the newspaper reported this Thursday. Echo.

According to the indictment presented this Wednesday to the defense of the detainees, the former Secretary of State under the President of the Council of Ministers is on the list of nine defendants. The list includes another partner of Morais Leitan, Rui Oliveira Neves, administrator of Start Campus, who was heard this Thursday by a criminal judge.

João Thiago Silveira, a former representative of the Socialist Party, served as Minister of Justice in the government of José Sócrates and was a member of the High Council of the Ministry of State.

An investigation into lithium and green hydrogen projects led to Antonio Costa’s resignation on Tuesday after the ministry said the prime minister was the subject of an independent Supreme Court investigation.
