Manuel Pizarro believes that the political crisis is disturbing society

This Friday, the Health Minister suggested that the current political crisis is troubling Portuguese society, but was “absolutely convinced” that democracy will find a solution to overcome it.

“Without all this [crise política atual] stops disturbing Portuguese society because it worries Portuguese society, I also want to convey a message of trust because democracy will always find a solution,” said Manuel Pizarro at the opening of the 32nd Congress of the Order of Dentists in Matosinhos. , in Port.

Stating that his presence at the event came under special circumstances, the government official confirmed that he is “absolutely convinced” that democracy will find a solution to the political crisis facing Portugal.

“And this decision will allow us to affirm our consciousness and collective path as a nation and people, as it has always happened,” he emphasized.

Called by journalists to take stock of his leadership at the Ministry of Health, Manuel Pizarro said that checks are carried out during departures, but this is not the case, since he still has “many months of hard work” ahead of him.

Portugal will hold early legislative elections on March 10, 2024, scheduled by the President of the Republic, following the resignation of the Prime Minister on Tuesday.

António Costa became the subject of an investigation by the Office of the Public Prosecutor (MP) at the Supreme Court after suspects in a case linked to a business related to lithium, green hydrogen and a data center in Sines named him as having intervened to unblock the procedures.

According to the deputy, we can talk about malfeasance, active and passive corruption of political officials and influence trading.

The MP believes that the Prime Minister interfered with the approval of the diploma to benefit the interests of the company responsible for the data center, Start Campus, according to the indictment, which contains several other references to António Costa.

On the day of his dismissal, Costa refused to engage in “any illegal or objectionable acts.”
