This Friday, the Secretary General of the PKP responded to the decision of the President of the Republic to dissolve parliament and call early legislative elections for March 10, 2024. Paulo Raimundo demonstrated his conviction in the electoral growth of the party, without recognizing or rejecting the hypothesis of a new “invention” on the left.
At a press conference, the communist declared the need to “break with right-wing politics,” in which “the main character was the PS” in this legislative body, “refuting those who gave it an absolute majority.”
“The right doesn’t need another state budget. This [2024] will serve him well,” said Paulo Raimundo.
The communist leader also accused the socialists of giving strength to the “agenda of reactionary parties” and did not give a clear answer about the possibility of an agreement on parliamentary influence on the left if the PS wins the elections.
In contrast, Paulo Raimundo called for “strengthening the PKP and the CDU at the electoral level” with the aim of “alternative politics.”
“We face the electoral struggle with confidence,” he said, emphasizing that “elections must take place earlier.”
