The Common Front of Public Administration announced this Wednesday a protest on Tuesday in front of the official residence of the Prime Minister with the aim of holding António Costa responsible “for the answers that he will not give” within the framework of the 2024 State Budget.
This was stated by the coordinator of the Common Front, Sebastian Santana, in a statement to journalists after a meeting with the Minister of the President Mariana Vieira da Silva and with the Secretary of State for Public Administration Ines Ramirez at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers in Lisbon.
“We are not satisfied with the result of this meeting, the government remains irreconcilable regarding the possibility of increasing wages, it supports the proposal that it had,” said the trade union leader.
Regarding the performance appraisal system, which was the topic of the meeting with the government this Wednesday, the United Front believes that “the evolution that has taken place has not been significant”, since quotas for top grades and the need for eight points to change the mandatory remuneration provision, when the Common Front suggested four points.
“We have once again demonstrated the government’s readiness to continue negotiations, which are understood until the government is no longer in power,” emphasized Sebastian Santana.
The Common Front leader said the government budget “has not yet been discussed in a final global vote” and there is therefore “time, space and means to change” the proposal.
“It is in this sense that the Common Front has planned a national concentration of trade union leaders, delegates and activists on the 21st in front of the official residence of the Prime Minister – and we were not mistaken about the address, in fact it is about holding the Head of Government is responsible for responses that do not will be provided with the approval of this MA,” he said.
The proposed state budget for 2024 (OE2024), already generally approved, will be put to a final global vote on November 29, with the dissolution of the Assembly of the Republic planned subsequently following the resignation presented by Prime Minister António. coast.
