Former ministers Durán Barroso and Pedro Passos Coelho, such as Nuno Morais Sarmento, José Luis Arnaut, Maria Luis Albuquerque, José Pedro Aguiar-Branco or Miguel Poyares Maduro, will be present at the 41st Congress of the PSD, which will take place this Saturday in Almada. The main meeting of the Social Democrats will take place less than four months before the first legislative elections, in which Luis Montenegro will present himself as the leader of the party.
Among the former rulers who will be in Almada are Teresa Morais, Pedro Lins or Manuel Castro Almeida, according to party sources cited by Luza.
The 41st National Congress of the PSD was convened to revise the charter, with 886 delegates and about 200 participants, but the political crisis led to the start of the legislative election campaign on March 10, 2024.
Among the main proposals for changing the charter is a maximum quota for the SDP leadership when choosing candidates for deputies – up to two-thirds of the total number.
