Carlos Moedas, President of the Lisbon City Council, spoke this Saturday at the opening 41st PSD Congress in Almada.
The President defended the Social Democratic Party (PSD) and said that “the Socialist Party denies Mario Soares and gives preference to extremism,” adding that the events of November 25 only showed that “the country has no master.”
He also mentioned that the Portuguese are desperate and “those who vote for the extremes vote out of desperation”, and also noted that the population was suffering from “a disease called socialism”.
The meeting of the Social Democrats will take place less than four months before the first legislative elections, in which Luis Montenegro will present himself as the leader of the party.
The 41st PSD National Congress was convened to revise the charter, but a political crisis led to the start of the legislative election campaign on 10 March 2024.
