On Tuesday, the PSP carried out a special preventive operation to execute several search and arrest warrants in the Lisbon area. Four people were arrested for weapons and/or drug possession.
Zone J in Chelas, the Flamenga area and Quinta do Chalet in Marvila were under police siege, Commissioner Nelson Silva said. CM.
“This is a special crime prevention operation under the gun law. We obtained 19 search warrants outside the country and carried out this operation. Usually because these places have seen serious gun attacks that have even resulted in deaths. And soon we used this legal mechanism to try to seize weapons and arrest criminals,” he explained.
In a statement, the department explained that the measures are aimed at “preventing and suppressing criminal phenomena, especially violent and serious ones, in urban areas with a high probability of their residents having firearms or bladed weapons.”
About 150 employees are involved in the work.
