Rui Rocha will be the candidate of the Liberal Initiative in Braga

Liberal Initiative (IL) President Rui Rocha announced today that he will run in the Braga district legislative elections on March 10 during a rally in Setúbal, at which he announced several party list leaders.

“In the Setúbal circle we will present Joan Cordeiro to the National Council as head of the list,” said Rui Rocha, immediately announcing the other names that will be put to the vote of the IL National Council, which will take place this Saturday.

Bernardo Blanco and Mariana Leitan for Lisbon, Carlos Guimarães Pinto and Patricia Gilvas for Porto, João Cotrim Figueiredo for the European circle and the independent Pedro Brinca for Coimbra are the other names announced by Rui Rocha in Setúbal.

Before revealing some of the most likely leaders of the IL list, Rui Rocha began by warning his supporters about calls for a healthy vote in the March 2024 legislative elections.

“As for the useful vote, I want to tell you that the useful vote in this election is the vote that changes the government, because it is very important to change the government. by changing the government, it also changes the country,” said Rui Rocha, citing the cases of Operation Influencer and the Brazilian twins, referring to Diogo Lacerda and the former health minister, as examples of the need for change. At the rally in Setubal, Rui Rocha also accused the central bloc parties, PS and PSD, of making impossible the proposal presented today in the IL Parliament to create a compensatory constituency to avoid the loss of 700 thousand Portuguese votes, which in the last Legislative elections were not used to elect a single deputy.

“We have two parties that, in over 30 years, while acknowledging the problem, never had initiatives that would lead to a solution to it, and who ultimately later, towards the end of the current prematurely adjourned Legislature, voted against this IL initiative, compensation circle,” he said, adding that PS and PSD are always missing when it comes to solving the country’s structural problems.

“That is why it is necessary to give strength to the Liberal Initiative, because it is a party, the only party that is able to challenge the authorities, to believe that it is possible to have another country, a country of prosperity. , a country with economic growth, a country that offers the Portuguese and the youth of Portugal other life options,” said Rui Rocha.
