PS this Thursday “categorically” rejected receiving financial or material support from companies, noting that donations collected by this party are registered, identified and submitted to the Office of Accounts and Political Finance.
This position was stated by the leadership of the socialists in a communiqué “taking into account the news published in the media.”
On Wednesday evening, TVI/CNN Portugal reported that on Tuesday the Judicial Police raided the Lisbon City Council for “suspicions of corruption, economic involvement in business and falsification” in an appointment to “provide services that was signed in 2015” by the then municipality president Fernando Medina, current finance minister, suspects PS funding.
“PS clarifies that it did not receive financial or material support from companies. By law, only donations are accepted from persons who are properly identified,” the PS said in a statement.
The PS then refers to the fact that “donations made are recorded and identified in the party’s official accounts submitted to the Office of Accounts and Political Finance.”
“The PS categorically denies allegations of funding outside of a strict legal framework,” he adds.
