The President of the Republic asked this Thursday the government and teachers’ unions to continue the dialogue, to avoid radicalization of positions and to achieve a “half-step” agreement between the respective starting positions.
Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, who spoke to reporters in the former royal arena next to the Belém Palace in Lisbon, expressed the hope that “a positive conclusion will be reached” soon, “and not in a month, two months, three months, four months, whether a week or two, or days.
The head of state defended that “it is important that the public school does not suffer,” and believed that this is a “race against the clock” so that “there are conditions so that this period is not significantly lost.”
