Air Force planes will fly over the country on Christmas Eve. Know where to look

The Air Force will fly over the country on Sunday, Christmas Eve, according to the statement.

The initiative aims to “wish everyone a Merry Christmas” while “training the maintenance of military capabilities.”

The flights are carried out using “a pair of F-16M and AW119 Koala and EH-101 Merlin helicopters,” the Air Force explained.

The BBC’s Merry Christmas wishes “from the sky” will sweep through some areas from north to south of mainland Portugal on Sunday.

In the north, an AW119 Koala helicopter takes off at 15:00 from Air Base No. 8 (BA8), located in Maceda, in Ovar, Aveiro district, with a route passing through Vila Nova de Gaia (15:15), Porto ( 15:20), Guimaraes (15:45), Braga (16:00), Ponte di Lima (16:10), Viana do Castelo (16:25), Vila do Conde (16:35 ) and Foch from Porto (16:45), return to BA8 (17:00), reports the BBC.

The EH-101 Merlin helicopter will fly over Setubal (11:00), Cascais (11:27), Ericeira (11:34), Torres Vedras (11:40), Vila Franca de Xira (11:47) and Santa Iria de Azoia (11:51) and also “wish everyone a Merry Christmas.”

Each flight is expected to last two hours.
