PSP arrested 400 drivers for alcohol abuse or driving without a license

From the 15th to Tuesday, PSP detained 400 drivers who were drunk or unlicensed to drive as part of Operation Safe Parties, resulting in 20 serious injuries and two deaths during the same period.

In its statement, the National Directorate of PSP gives an interim assessment of the operation, which began on December 15, and highlights that in terms of road traffic accidents, 1,929 accidents were reported, resulting in 580 minor injuries, 20 serious injuries and two deaths.

In total, the PSP carried out 2,746 preventive activities and 839 arrests.

Of those arrests, 400 were for traffic offenses: 254 for drunk driving and 146 for lack of legal driving privileges.

20 people were detained for possession of prohibited weapons, 73 people are suspected of drug trafficking.

According to the PSP, more than 24,576 individual doses of drugs were seized.

The arrest balance ends with 80 arrests for property crimes, fraud, theft and robbery.

In approximately 10 days, PSP employees examined 19 firearms and 37 types of bladed weapons, as well as more than 3,000 pyrotechnic products.

Regarding the road check, the PSP checked 18,551 vehicles and monitored 79,592 vehicles using radar.

Based on the results of the inspections, 6,873 reports of administrative offenses were drawn up: 2,529 for speeding, 424 for lack of mandatory periodic inspection, 48 for lack of civil liability insurance, 133 for improper use of a mobile phone while driving and 133 for driving while intoxicated. form.

In a message sent to the newsroom, the National Directorate of PSP takes the opportunity to encourage all drivers to drive safely by adapting their driving to weather conditions and road conditions.

“We also ask you to reduce your speed, especially in crowded areas such as commercial and tourist areas, and when approaching pedestrian crossings,” PSP asks.

Recalling that the main causes of accidents are driving at excessive speed and under the influence of alcohol, as well as driver distracted behavior such as mobile phone use, PSP is strengthening its appeal as Christmas parties and the New Year approach.

“Given the approaching festive events associated with the onset of the New Year, the PSP emphasizes that to ensure the safety of everyone, any use of pyrotechnic products must always comply with legal requirements, as well as comply with the conditions of use, restrictions on availability, storage, transportation and storage,” he concluded .
