President Chegi warned this Saturday of signs of unity between the various left forces after the legislative elections and said that if right-wing parties do not do the same, “they will be idiots on duty.”
Andre Ventura gave a speech before starting a visit to the sites of the Royal Humanitarian Association of Volunteer Firemen of Lisbon in the Chiado district after he was told about the contents of the New Year’s message of the coordinator of the Bloc de Esquerda, Mariana Mortagua.
“This message from Mariana Mortagua, like the message from Paulo Raimundo and Pedro Nuno Santos, is the clarity that the left will do whatever it takes to stay in power. If the right chooses to play games of ‘I’m not allied with This’ or ‘I’m not forming a coalition with This’ instead of wanting to govern, that’s the worst service we’re doing to democracy,” he warned.
From Chega’s side, Andre Ventura said that the main goal is to put right-wingers at the head of the Portuguese government. And if all right-wingers do not follow this path, and if after the legislative elections on March 10, disagreements arise between right-wing parties, then the following conclusion will be drawn: “If we don’t do this, we are idiots.” on duty.”
“And it’s time for the right to stop being idiots on duty,” he emphasized.
President Chegi already understands “what is the purpose of this message from Mariana Mortagua, as well as what the left has in stock to unite around the new Gerigonza.”
“I urge everyone who understands that this ‘invention’ was a bad model for government to get out and vote on March 10th. Whether it is Mariana Mortagua, Paulo Raimundo or Pedro Nuno Santos, who is the most important player here, they have already made it clear that they will unite again, leaving the right-wing parties aside,” he said.
This action of the left, from the point of view of Andre Ventura, “should be a challenge for the right, so that they realize that they need to create an alternative.”
“If the right does not create this alternative, the left will rule after March 10,” he insisted.
Regarding his visit to the Humanitarian Association of Volunteer Firefighters of Lisbon, a 156-year-old organization created by King Dom Luís, President Chegi felt that the government had not kept its promises “and firefighters are still being treated poorly.”
“This is intertwined with the challenges we have in healthcare. As we know, firefighters play a fundamental role in hospital and pre-hospital emergencies. As we enter 2024, the fire department will continue to be perhaps one of the best-served agencies in the country.” he added. .
