This Thursday, the President of the PSD spoke in detail about the electoral agreement with the SDS-PP and the PPM. The three parties re-form the Democratic Alliance (AD) and are running together in the March 2024 legislative elections.
According to Luis Montenegro, the electoral agreement guarantees the CDS-PP “two clearly suitable seats” in the constituencies of Lisbon and Porto. The party, chaired by Nuno Melo, will also nominate a sixteenth AD candidate in Lisbon and Porto, as well as a tenth name in Aveiro and an eleventh in Braga, according to Luis Montenegro during the PSD Congress meeting.
The Social Democratic president promised to “re-issue the spirit of AD” and emphasized the “substantial agreement on political goals” laid out by the three parties. Steps to be taken include prioritizing the “interests of people and institutions” and opening up the “participation of qualified” and independent people, including in the SDP parliamentary group. “We are ready to govern Portugal,” he stressed.
