The PSD and SDS unanimously approved a right-wing coalition in the National Councils that would allow the centrists to return to parliament with two “clearly suitable” seats in Lisbon and Porto, Luis Montenegro said.
In the re-issue of the Democratic Alliance (AD), the SDS could gain four deputies depending on the results of the legislative elections, retaining 10th place on the lists in Aveiro and 11th in Braga, but party president Nuno Melo has set the bar higher, declaring , that “if we achieve the good result that we hope for, the SDS will elect six deputies,” which is one more than the last parliamentary group elected by the centrists.
The door is also open for the PPM, which agreed to join the AD on Wednesday in the 19th seat in the Lisbon constituency. “Getting there is not easy, but if everything goes as we expect, we will fight for it,” Montenegro said.
The coalition will be formalized on Sunday at 17:30 in Alfandegue do Porto.
