The President of the Assembly of the Republic will present on Thursday, after the last plenary session before the dissolution of Parliament, the 15th, a book entitled “Singular and Plural”, which will present the speeches he made during the first legislative session.
The book will be presented by PS deputy, president of the parliamentary committee on education and science, Alexandre Quintanilla, and Paulo Trigo Pereira, economist, former independent socialist deputy and university professor.
Divided into three parts, the book by the President of the Assembly of the Republic focuses on the speeches he made during the 18-month first legislative session of the current legislature, from March 29, 2022 to September 14, 2023.
The book opens with an introductory chapter entitled “Accountability”, and the first chapter presents speeches he made at plenary sessions such as his election on March 29, 2022, at the ceremonial session on April 25, 2022, at the ceremony of the session via video conference with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky or at the ceremonial meeting of Brazilian President Lula da Silva.
The second chapter includes speeches by Augusto Santos Silva at colloquia, conferences and seminars, both in Parliament and outside the Assembly of the Republic, in which he addressed topics such as “the actions of Parliament and the foreign policy of Portugal”; “parliamentary monitoring of the activities of justice bodies; or “Portuguese as a global language in the 21st century.”
The third and last part of the book includes speeches delivered by former Minister of State and Foreign Affairs at the inaugural sessions, for example by the Presidents of the Economic and Social or National Electoral Council or the National Council of Education, the Council of Judges of the World, the Supervisory Council of the Information System of the Portuguese Republic or the Secretary General of the Assembly of the Republic .
