On Friday, a man robbed the only branch of the Caixa Geral de Depósitos in Camara de Lobos in Madeira, making off with a large sum of money that has not yet been officially confirmed – local newspapers report that 240 thousand euros were stolen. The hooded thief took four people hostage (three customers and an employee) and tied them up.
The crime occurred at 8:30 am. The robber, covered with a balaclava and armed with a shotgun, took advantage of the slight movement that could be felt on Rua Padre Eduardo Clemente Nunez Pereira and entered the bank. Having tied up the hostages, he took the money. ABOUT CM He tried to speak with Caixa representatives on site, but no one was available to comment.
The thief fled on foot. There is a car dealership next to the bank, whose video surveillance system may have recorded the escape. The Madeira Court is investigating the connection between this crime and a knife robbery at a gas station that occurred in the parish of Caniço. Here a thief stole a significant amount with a knife.
