The driver crashed into a PSP car at Lisbon airport and was stopped by GNR officers in Alverque.

The man was stopped by GNR officers as he attempted to cross the central median on the A1 motorway at Alverca on Saturday morning after abandoning the car he was driving on the side of the motorway following a getaway. 15 minutes ago at Lisbon airport.

According to an official source from the Lisbon Metropolitan Command, at 6:00 am the PSP was alerted that a driver was driving in the wrong lane and making dangerous maneuvers at the entrances to Lisbon airport. Officers intercepted the suspect, but as they attempted to approach him, the man advanced in his vehicle and collided with the PSP van. He managed to flee the scene and entered the A1 motorway heading north.

According to an official Guarda source, a few minutes later GNR representatives intercepted the same man who was crossing the highway, abandoning his car in the Alverki area. It quickly became clear that it was the same driver and the same car. Despite the presence of the device, no injuries were reported.

The man went missing several hours ago and suffers from mental disorders. He was not officially detained, but was taken to the hospital in police custody. Criminal proceedings now depend on medical examination.
