An Airlink plane leaves the runway after landing at Mozambique’s Pemba airport

An Airlink Embraer ERJ 135 skidded off the runway on Thursday while landing at Pemba airport in Mozambique’s Cabo Delgado province, which was closed to air traffic, the South African company said.

According to the carrier, the aircraft, registration SZ-SJX, was operating flight 4Z 204 from Johannesburg, South Africa, and was carrying 32 passengers and three crew members who left the aircraft through the main door, with the incident explained. from Airlink with “wet coating”.

“There are no reports of casualties yet. Airlink and Pemba airport staff are taking care of passengers and crew,” he says.

Airlink adds that it has “notified the relevant authorities” in Mozambique and South Africa about the incident and that the company operating Pemba Airport has “closed the runway”.

“As soon as it opens, we will send a reserve aircraft and a team to Pemba to help recover an aircraft that hydroplaned after running off the runway,” the company further describes.
