This Friday, the PS announced that until the end of this month it is holding meetings to collect contributions for inclusion in the program that it will present in the legislative elections, a document that is coordinated by former Minister Alexandra Leitão.
A statement from the PS press service states that these collection meetings are also open to supporters of the party and the first of these meetings took place this Thursday in Aveiro.
These meetings are being organized jointly with the 19 PS federations and, according to the PS, “there will also be other types of events that will be announced in due course, involving entities invited to participate in drawing up the electoral program for March 10.” legislative elections.”
The election program of the PS should be publicly presented in early February, after the completion of the process of forming lists of candidates for Socialist deputies for the next legislative elections.
Following an agreement between the general secretary of the PS and José Luis Carneiro, his former opponent in the race for the leadership of the party, it was established that the team coordinating the electoral program, headed by Alexandra Leitão, also included André Mauz. Kaldas, State Secretary of the President, who supported the candidacy of the current Minister of Internal Affairs.
Regarding the lists of candidates for the PS, it is already known that the Secretary General of the PS, Pedro Nuno Santos, will once again head the list for the constituency of Aveiro.
Regarding this process of selecting parliamentary candidates, the Political Committee of the Federation of Porto meets on Saturday afternoon and the Federation of Urban Areas of Lisbon (FAUL) on Monday.
The final approval of the lists of parliamentary candidates will be entrusted to the National Political Commission of the PS, whose meeting is expected on Tuesday or Wednesday.
According to the PS charter, the PS secretary general nominates one third of the total number of parliamentary candidates, and the remaining two thirds are under the jurisdiction of the federal political committees.
