“She has no conditions to stay ahead”: BE defends Miguel Albuquerque’s departure from the Madeira government

BE coordinator Mariana Mortagua said this Wednesday that Miguel Albuquerque “does not have the conditions to remain at the head” of the regional government of Madeira, accusing him of political responsibility for “a regime that favors private transactions.”

Following a meeting with Fenprof at the BE headquarters in Lisbon, Mariana Mortagua was questioned by journalists about the conduct of searches in the autonomous regions and on the continent and involving political officials of the government of Madeira and Camara do Funchal on suspicion of, according to the Ministry of Justice, unjustified favoritism of companies /group

“Miguel Albuquerque, being politically responsible for this regime that favors private transactions, is not in a position to remain at the head of the regional government,” he said.

The bloc leader said that “justice will prevail and an investigation will have to be carried out”, but noted that “what is happening in the autonomous region of Madeira” is common knowledge.

“Madeira has long had a regime led by the right, in collusion with the private interests they protect, which favors specific companies that benefit from Madeira’s business, that live off the impoverishment of Madeira, that live off the state. These enterprises were condemned by the Left Bloc one after another,” he said.

According to Mortagua, “real estate negotiations carried out by private groups and defended by the Madeira government in an absolute majority regime, now with the support of the PAN, led by the PSD, are not new and have become the object of condemnation.” from blockers.

“In addition to condemning these negotiations, this regime of favoritism, complicity, support, favor between the Madeira regime led by the PSD and private companies, there is another novelty that is not new at all. The PSD government conditions the media in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, and the only ones who do not know are those who did not campaign in Madeira, who are not involved in politics every day in the Autonomous Region of Madeira,” he accused.

The president of the Madeira government, Miguel Albuquerque (NSD), said this afternoon that he will not resign even if he is accused, in a process in which suspicions of corruption are being investigated and “active cooperation with justice” is guaranteed.

A few minutes later, PSD President Luis Montenegro refused to compare the investigations involving the President of the Madeira Government and Prime Minister António Costa, saying that “there are more than a lot of differences.”
