The Secretary General of the Socialist Party, Pedro Nuno Santos, expressed this Monday his regret at the insensitive position of the PSD in the face of criticism of the Socialists’ proposal to abolish road tolls in the interior of the country.
“Please note: whoever made the criticism proposed a financial shock that would mean a €4.5 billion hole in the public accounts. Regarding our proposals, they have been well studied, evaluated and quantified,” said Pedro Nuno Santos.
The Socialists’ general secretary spoke before the Aveiro court after presenting the lists of PS candidates for the legislative elections in the Aveiro district.
In response to criticism of the measures presented by the Socialists, the PSD leader said that there is “oil” in Largo do Rato, Pedro Nuno deplored the PSD position of “insensitivity to a large part of the territory that, for decades, has always waited later.”
“We are talking about territories that have no alternative to the car, and we all have a responsibility to build a country and the whole of Portugal where everyone is respected, where all regions are respected, and obviously we had to do this also with our people. from the interior areas, which were covered by the ex-rays,” he said.
Asked about the PS not advancing the measure to the current legislature, Pedro Nuno said he is now just a candidate, adding that the PS draft is a work in progress.
