The platform, which brings together trade unions and security force associations, wrote to the Prime Minister about the “limited situation” of the professionals they represent, warning of a possible “extreme position” given the government’s “lack of response”.
In a letter dated this Saturday and sent on Friday, the Platform of the Unions of the Public Security Police (PSP) and the National Republican Guard (GNR) tells António Costa that “the police have reached their limits and can desperately take extreme positions such as those that are developing throughout country.”
Expressing “concerns (…) about what might happen next,” the platform, which has so far “managed to keep actions within the bounds of the law,” now emphasizes that it is “unable to accommodate “all forms of protest, awaiting that they will “reach undesirable proportions.”
