The representative of the Republic of Madeira has signed and submitted for publication a regional legislative decree approving the minimum monthly wage for 2024, set at 850 euros, his office announced on Wednesday.
The regional government’s proposal (PSD/CDS) was unanimously approved at the plenary meeting of the Legislative Assembly of Madeira on January 25, representing an increase of 65 euros (8.3%) compared to the previous year.
Presenting the diploma, Regional Secretary for Inclusion and Youth Ana Souza emphasized that “since 2015, in Madeira and Porto Santos, the regional minimum wage has increased by 60.6%, a nominal increase of more than 334 euros.”
According to the governor, on November 20, 2023, through social consultations, “a historic agreement was reached without any negative vote and only with the abstention of USAM (União dos Sindicatos da Madeira),” which established new guaranteed minimum monthly wages.
He said the €850 represents a 3.7% increase over the national minimum wage for the current year, which was set at €820 (an increase of €60 compared to 2023).
Ana Souza noted that Madeira has “historically increased the guaranteed minimum monthly wage by an average of about 2% compared to the national value.”
