The robber, already known to PSP for similar attacks, discovered CM, was captured early this Friday on CCTV breaking into and stealing a pastry shop on Rua Sacadura Cabral, next to the São Pedro do Estoril train station, in the municipality of Cascais. A wave of thefts from cafes, pastry shops and ice cream shops swept across the area.

The robbery, caught on video surveillance at the Torres pastry shop, occurred at 12:40 a.m. The man entered through the glass under the main door, caused damage and stole about 200 euros from the cash register. According to the PSP, the alarm went off and a security guard also went to the scene, but the suspect could not be intercepted. But he was identified from CCTV images, making an arrest impossible due to lack of detection. In addition to video surveillance, crime scene inspectors also collected traces at the scene.

Also early this Friday morning, the Cristallo ice cream shop, located next to the São João Estoril train station, was robbed by a man who also broke the bottom glass of the main door to gain entry. The robber left a stone at the scene, which he used to break the glass. He searched the cash register but didn’t take anything. The robbery occurred between the ice cream shop closing (7pm on Thursday) and opening at 8:10am this Friday.

On Thursday at 2:43 a.m., the Compañia de Bebidas bar in San Pedro Estoril, just a hundred meters from the Torres pastry shop, was robbed. The alarm went off and video surveillance shows the man breaking down the front door and throwing the cash register and ATM machine onto the floor.
