Hundreds of police massed this Monday evening at the Capitol in Lisbon, where the election debate between the leaders of the PS and PSD will take place, as a result of a spontaneous, unsanctioned protest.
Dressed in black shirts and holding Portuguese flags, members of the PSP and PNP whistle, cheer and chant “the unified police will never be defeated”, “shame”, “respect” and “Portugal”, and sing the national anthem.
Police marched to the Capitol after about 3,000 PSP and GNR members gathered in Praça do Comércio, next to the Ministry of Internal Administration (MAI), in a protest organized by a platform uniting the PSP and GNR. GNR Associations.
PSP and GNR elements occupied the entire width of Rua da Prata in the center of Lisbon, without first blocking traffic.
Along the way, protesters whistle and shout, “Unified Police will never be defeated.”
The protest at the Capitol was marked on social networks by the “Inop movement” and does not have the participation of the platform uniting the PSP unions and the GNR associations.
The commander in charge of policing at the Capitol told Lusa that the demonstration was unsanctioned and that its organizers would be identified.
